Four acids, four jobs

Salicylic is oil-soluble and works inside the follicle. Mandelic is the largest AHA, so it goes in slowly and evenly. Lactic holds water in while it resurfaces. Black acetic carries the keratolytic finish. A single-acid peel does one of these.

It leads with Black acetic · four-acid to drive retinol and four acids into resistant pigment over a timed, take-home mask. As a superficial to medium-depth peel, penetration is controlled by strength and dwell time, so the practitioner sets the intensity to the skin.

Protocol

5 steps. Written for the practitioner.

Prep

Cleanse and degrease. Apply prep solution to standardise the surface.

Apply

One to two even coats by brush or gauze. Avoid the orbital and lip margins.

Dwell

Leave on for the timed interval, watching erythema and any frosting.

Neutralise

Apply neutraliser until effervescence stops, then rinse thoroughly.

Aftercare

Soothing barrier cream and broad-spectrum SPF. Sun avoidance 5–7 days.
